Here are some answers to the most commonly asked questions
From where does the boat depart?
Most of our boat trips depart from Maritiman.
(Packhusgatan 16, 411 13 Göteborg). It is located between the Gothenburg Opera house and Kajskjul 8 / Casino Cosmopol.

From where does the bus depart?
All our buses depart from the bus park at the Gothenburg Opera house, (Christina Nilsson Gata, 411 04 Gothenburg) unless other is stated on your booking confirmation.

When does the bus depart?
You will find your departure time on your booking confirmation. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure time.
Can I choose to board the bus at another bus stop if I am going to travel with you from Strömstad (or another destination north) to join the boat going south to Gothenburg?

Is there parking by the bus or boat?
There is short term parking by the Gothenburg Opera house. For long term parking, we suggest the parking garage by Gothenburg central train station. It is a short walk to the boat.
What hotel shall I stay at in Gothenburg?
We have an arrangement with Comfort Hotel Gothenburg, a short walk to the boat. If you book via us, you will be eligible for our special offers.
What time will we be arriving back?
Approximate arrival back in Gothenburg is given on your booking confirmation. All our times are estimates. We are not responsible if you miss any connecting travels due to delays.
When do I receive my tickets?
We do not issue tickets, only electronic booking confirmations. Please check in with our staff on arrival at bus or boat.
When do I pay for my trip?
If you book a trip more than 30 days before departure, you only pay a booking fee and if chosen, insurance. Full payment shall be received latest 30 days before departure and our invoice will be sent to your address given at time of booking.
If you book less than 30 days before departure the full amount shall be paid at time of booking.
When do I book excursions, guided tours and restaurant meals that I wish to add to my trip?
You can book all excursions, guided tours and restaurant meals at the time of booking or log in at least 7 days before departure. If there is availability, you can book on-board.
Can I reserve a seat on the bus?
We do not reserve seats on the bus unless there are special circumstances. Such as a medical issue or disability.
Is there a toilet on the bus?
We have a toilet on all our buses.
Does the bus stop for breaks?
Normally not as all our trips are short. There are toilets on all busses.
Can I bring a walking frame or wheelchair?
A walking frame (Zimmer frame) is fine. If you need the use of a wheelchair you need to inform us at time of booking and we will advise what trips are available. Our staff will help while getting and off the boat or bus. On our boat M/S Nya Skärgården there is a disable toilet. Some of our older boats are not suitable for wheelchair users and some of our destinations are not accessible to wheelchairs.
Can I buy a gift card, if so, how do I go about it?
We sell gift cards. It is valid for one year and is valid from the date of issue. Gift cards can be ordered from our website or by phone. Please call us on +46 (0)31-101015
What is your cancellation charges?
It changes with how far in advance you book your trip. Please read our cancellation policy.
What is Friends of Kulturbåtarna and how do I become a member?
Friends of Kulturbåtarna is an association where everybody shares a common interest of beautiful old boats. We are going to arrange member’s trips and events and members will even get the chance to book some trips at a discounted price. Membership is 200 SEK per annum. Book your membership here.
I want to log a complaint. How do I do it?
All complaints must be sent in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org. We respond to all correspondence within 4 weeks. Please observe that a comment is not regarded or treated as complaint. We need a separate email.
How do I contact your out of office service?
The office is open every weekday between 8.30 to 16.30. If something unexpected occur before or during a trip, you can always reach us on 031-3139214. Please do not call the out of office service for minor delays (less than 15 minutes.) Later than 15 minutes, please give us a call!
What food is served?
It depends on your chosen trip, we sometimes eat on board or a shore. We always aim to book the best available food, locally sourced and organic whenever possible. On most trips we aim for fresh, locally caught fish.
If I have food allergies, what do I do?
If you have food allergies, please let us know at time of booking. If you forget, please let us know by logging in to your booking and adding it there. Or email us on email@example.com. Please make our staff aware before every meal.
If I have a medical emergency before departure, what do I do?
If you or anybody else in your group has a medical emergency, please let us know as soon as possible. Inform your insurance company. If you have purchased our travel insurance, please send in your doctor’s notes. For more information, please read our cancellation policy.
How much luggage can I bring?
We ask that you bring as little luggage as possible and preferable in a soft case. On-board there is a limited amount of space.
What kind of clothes should I bring?
Some of our activities are outside and suitable clothing for the season should be packed. Umbrellas and rain ponchos can be purchased on board.
How far is it from the boat to the hotel?
It varies by destination. We aim to book hotels as closed to the boat as possible. On most destinations, we are only 100 meters from the reception. Every hotel can be found on the website, with a description. If you book a hotel further away, we will assist with Taxi bookings.
What can I buy on board?
All our boats have a bar and are fully licenced to sell alcohol. We also serve coffee, cakes and sandwiches. On some of our boats we also sell souvenirs, books, umbrellas and rain ponchos. Other items can be ordered via our website.
What happens in bad weather?
We never take any risks in high wind. Our aim is always that your trip should be as comfortable and as safe as possible. We therefor always have a backup with bus. We can always transport you with bus to the nearest calm harbour for onward travel to your destination. Our aim is that regardless of weather, your journey should be of equal value, enjoyment and experience. Please read our conditions of travel, for more information.
What happens if I have a medical emergency on board?
Our staff all have first aid and heart lung training. (A defibrillator is available on M/S Nya Skärgården.) Our boats have the standard first aid equipment as stipulated by the marine authorities. In emergencies, we will call the emergency services and the national life guard boats are always quick to respond.
Will there be music on board?
On most of our trips we have music on board. Please see the travel description on our web site, for your journey.
How can I pay on board?
We accept Visa and MasterCard as well as cash.

How do I travel back to Strömstad from Gothenburg?
By train from central station: Göteborg C, Göteborg to Strömstad station, Strömstad with: VÄSTTÅGEN towards Strömstad at 18:40 från Göteborg C, Göteborg to Strömstad station, Strömstad, (arrival track 1 at 21:20).
The travel is estimated to 2 h 40 min directly.
